On-brand AI content: keep every AI-written post in your brand voice

AI writes a decent first draft of almost anything. The problem is that it writes everyone's first draft the same way. This guide shows how to give AI your voice, visuals and facts once, so what it produces sounds like you and stays true.

The short answer

AI content goes off-brand because the AI does not know your voice, your rules or your facts, so it falls back on a generic style and sometimes invents details. Fix it in four parts: write a short voice brief once and attach it to every prompt; keep visuals in a brand kit that applies itself; start from proven prompts instead of blank ones; and check every piece for voice and facts before it goes out.

Why AI content drifts off-brand

The four-part system

1. A voice brief, written once

One short document with who you write for, what you offer, three words for how you sound, words to use and avoid, one example sentence, and the facts the AI is allowed to use. Build one with the form below and paste it at the top of every request.

2. A brand kit for the visuals

Keep the logo, colors and fonts in a Brand Kit that applies itself to every template, so the image that goes with the AI-written caption is on-brand without anyone matching colors by eye.

3. Proven prompts instead of blank ones

A prompt that already asks for the right structure (hook, offer, call to action) gives a better draft than "write a post about our sale". Brand AI Insights collects curated prompts by goal and industry, and the AI generators below are built around specific formats.

4. A check before anything goes out

Read every piece against the brief: right voice words, no banned words, no facts that are not in the brief. For a batch of finished work, run the brand consistency checker, which looks at voice and tone as well as logo, color and typography use.

Build your brand voice brief

Fill this in once. Copy the brief into any AI writer before you ask for a post, ad or email. Nothing leaves your browser.

Each of these starts from a format-specific prompt. Paste your voice brief in first.

How to ask: three prompt patterns

Start every prompt with your brief, then add one of these:

NeedAdd to the brief
Social post"Write one Instagram caption announcing [news]. Open with a line that stops the scroll, keep it under 60 words, end with [call to action]."
Ad"Write 5 Google Ads headlines (max 30 characters) and 2 descriptions (max 90) for [offer]. Use only the facts in the brief."
Email"Write a short email to [segment] about [topic]: subject line, two short paragraphs, one button text."

Ask for three versions and pick, rather than editing one weak draft. Keep the versions you publish: they become the best examples for the next brief.

Before you publish: a 6-point check

  1. Does it sound like the example sentence in the brief?
  2. Any banned words?
  3. Every price, date, number and claim appears in the brief, or has been checked.
  4. No invented quotes, reviews or customer names.
  5. The image uses the Brand Kit (logo, colors, fonts).
  6. One clear call to action that goes to a page that works.

Do any platforms put brand kits into editorial briefs?

Most design platforms apply a brand kit to visuals automatically; tone of voice is usually handled by a written guide that writers, or AI writers, are given with each request. In Brand AI, the Brand Kit applies the logo, colors and fonts to every design, and the voice brief built above is the written part you attach to every AI request. Keeping both in one place means the caption and the image arrive on-brand together.

Questions people ask

How do I keep AI-generated content on brand?

Write a short voice brief (audience, offer, three voice words, words to use and avoid, an example sentence and the facts the AI may use), attach it to every AI request, make the visuals from a brand kit, start from proven prompts, and check each piece for voice and facts before publishing.

Can AI write in my brand voice?

Yes, if it is given the voice. AI follows written rules and examples well: three voice words, words to avoid and one or two sentences that sound like the brand. Without them it falls back on a generic style. Keep the best published pieces and add them to the brief as examples.

What is branded content AI?

Branded content AI means using AI to create posts, ads, emails and images that carry a brand's voice and visual identity. It works when the AI is briefed with the brand's voice rules and facts and the visuals come from a brand kit, so the output is consistent rather than generic.

How do I check brand voice consistency?

Compare each piece with the voice brief: voice words, banned words, sentence length and approved facts. For a wider check across channels, Brand AI's consistency checker reviews voice and tone alongside logo, color and typography use, and Brand 360 scores the brand across 19 dimensions.

Which platforms integrate brand kits into editorial briefs and auto-populate tone instructions for writers?

Design platforms with brand kits apply logos, colors and fonts automatically; tone instructions are usually a written guide attached to each writing request. Brand AI applies the Brand Kit to every design, and this guide's voice brief builder produces the tone instructions to paste into any AI writer, so visuals and copy follow the same brand.

Put the visuals on autopilot too

Save your logo, colors and fonts as a Brand Kit and every template uses them.
